Discoveries under the microscope: the mystery of organic nitrogen in your soil!

Friends, imagine that the field beneath your feet is not just soil, but a whole kingdom where microorganisms do their important work. They transform organic nitrogen, which we call SOM, into forms that are available to plants. But how do they do this? And where does the SOC come from?

Water-soluble organic nitrogen (WSO) is the same nitrogen found in proteins and amino acids that is available to microbes in your soil. It is crucial for maintaining soil balance and fertility, reducing the need for chemical fertilisers. Thanks to sources of BPOA such as composts, manure and crops containing legumes and cruciferous plants, we can enrich the soil naturally.

Do you know how much BROA is in your field?

Standard values range from 10 to 30 mg/kg, which is equivalent to about 27 kg of nitrogen per 0.4 ha. This is significant for 15 cm of soil.

We invite you to dive into this microcosm with us. Send a sample of your soil to our laboratory for analysis and find out if your soil is the perfect home for the microbes that support the fertility of your plants.
